What is Teak?

We get a lot of questions from customers asking what exactly teak is. So I thought I’d answer it for you.

Teak is a type of wood that comes from a tree known simply as the teak tree. It’s a tropical tree that originally comes from southeast Asia, but is also grown today in parts of Africa and America. It’s very durable and resistant to warping as well as insects. Because of that, it’s used a lot in making furniture and in shipbuilding.

I got a call a few days ago from a woman named Robin in Vermont who was interested in buying a sunburst table from our website. She was surprised to see the low price and the free shipping, so she was calling to make sure it was real, and there were no other hidden charges. I told her it was, and she said that she was “tickled pink”.

I said, “please spread the word.”

She said, “Oh, don’t worry, I have a big mouth.” Then she bought the table.

The next day we had an extra 30 visitors. I figure that came just from Robin.
